PREP + AFTER CARE:

*PLEASE READ ALL INFO*

SHAVE + EXFOLIATE. Be sure to shave all unwanted hair and exfoliate, head to toe using a proper exfoliating mitt the night before your appointment. Exfoliating is the key to a great tan and even more imperative if you have an existing fake tan. Tanning over existing tan is like painting over chipped nail polish, the results aren’t as good.

NO PRODUCTS. Skip out on the lotions, deodorants, oils, and fragrances the DAY OF your tan. These products can all create a barrier between your skin and the spray tan resulting in an uneven tan, green armpits, and blotchiness. Ew.

WASHING YOUR HAIR. Make sure to wash your hair prior or plan out your hair washing schedule to avoid washing your hair the day of your tan. Ingredients in shampoo & conditioner can interfere with development of your spray tan. I’d aim for 4+hours before or 24 hours after the tan.

PLAN YOUR DAY ACCORDINGLY. We get it... Your world doesn't stop spinning because you're spray tanning…but please plan on wearing loose dark clothing, & have no exposure to water (cooking/washing dishes/bathing kids) and no heavy sweating the day of your tan.

What Do I Wear for My Appointment?

During your session you can wear anything you’re comfortable in. swimsuit, thong, nude… We don’t care! We also carry disposable undergarments —just ask!

Post spray, we recommend loose dark clothing. No tight bra, no tight leggings, no tight/closed-toed shoes, etc. If you are sleeping in your tan before rinsing off—ensure that you wear long sleeves and long pants to bed. This prevents transfer to other body parts and transfer on your bedding.

Do I Spray Tan Before or After Other Beauty Treatments?

Your spray tan should be the last step in your beauty routine, period. Massages, waxing, mani/pedis, etc. should all occur a minimum of 4-24 hours before your spray tan appointment. All of these services have their own products that can create a barrier between your skin and the spray tan. Or when utilized afterwards, can fade or strip the tan.

How Long Does the Tan Last?

With proper prep & aftercare it can last anywhere from 7-10 days. This includes all the products you are putting on your skin. The ingredients in most of the products in the drugstore are full of funky ingredients like alcohols, fragrances, sulfates, parabens, etc. all of which can STRIP OR FADE YOUR TAN! We sell products that are specially formulated with your tan in mind! Moisturizers, body washes, sunscreen, etc.

I got my tan… Now What?

Try to avoid skin-to-skin contact until after your first rinse. Especially your palms/fingers. The tan can transfer to other areas of the skin and mess up the flawless blend your tech worked so hard on. This is extremely important if you plan to sleep in your tan. We recommend that anyone sleeping in their tan is a pro at tanning and have already mastered this. Most tanning mishaps happen overnight. Please be careful doing this. If you’re a newbie, I suggest rinsing before bed.

Avoid water (washing hands, doing dishes, bathing the kids, rain, etc.) until rinse time. Water stops the development of the tan.

That being said, rinse at your technician's recommended time, especially if doing a rapid! The Signature is an 8-12 hour solution. The rinse period should NOT go beyond 24 hours. The Rapid Rinse times vary.

The first rinse is a WATER RINSE ONLY! Skip the soaps, shampoo’s, conditioners/products until your first REAL SHOWER

Immediately after rinsing, you might feel as if you've lost all color. This is totally normal, especially with rapid. The tan takes a full 18-24 hours to develop and will continue to deepen after the rinse. Trust the process!

Your spray tan NEEDS Hydration! Make sure you're moisturizing with a tan-safe moisturizer or oil and drinking PLENTY of water.
